This guide uses the Twenty Twenty-Four theme as an example. For other themes found under Appearance → Themes, the process is similar.

In WordPress, a theme is like the interior design of a house: the floor plan stays the same, but the appearance changes. A theme controls the header, footer, navigation menu, fonts, colors, and page layout.

Step 1. Open the Themes page

In the WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance → Themes.

Step 2. Install the Twenty Twenty-Four theme

Click Add New, search for Twenty Twenty-Four, open the theme page, and click Install.

After the installation is complete, click Activate.

Step 3. Open the Site Editor

Go to Appearance → Editor.

For the Twenty Twenty-Four theme, most appearance settings are configured here.

Step 4. Upload your logo to the header

In the editor preview, click the site header, select the logo block, and upload your image using the Replace Image button.

Step 5. Check the site title and tagline

Select the Site Title block in the header and verify the title.

Check the site's tagline. If you do not need it, remove it from the header.

Step 6. Edit the navigation menu

Select the Navigation block in the header and open its settings.

To add a menu item, click the + button inside the Navigation block and choose the type of content.

You can add a page, custom link, category, or post to the menu.

After adding items, drag and drop them into the desired order.

Step 7. Customize colors and fonts

Open the Styles section in the Site Editor.

Choose the primary color, accent color, and font. Changes are displayed immediately in the preview.

Step 8. Save your changes

Click Save in the upper-right corner of the editor.

If WordPress displays a list of changes, confirm by clicking Save again.

Step 9. Review the result

Open your website's homepage in a new browser tab and check the header, logo, navigation menu, colors, and text readability.

If you need to make changes, return to Appearance → Editor, edit the necessary elements, and click Save again.
